Women’s Wellness and You!

Are you a woman who has been through menopause (no period for at least one year?)

Have you ever wondered why there have been so many changes to your body?  Have you gained weight thanks to a slowing metabolism?  Feeling flushed and sweating thanks to hot flashes?  You’re not alone!

When it comes to a woman’s body and the many changes females undergo during their lifetime, sometimes many women are in the dark.  Coastal Connecticut Research in New London would like to shed some light on the many mysteries regarding menopause.

Please join us on Wednesday, November 20th at the Public Library of New London for a “Women and Menopause” event.  All are welcome! Speakers will include Dr. Robert M. Spitz, Medical Director of Coastal Connecticut Research along with Alison Dvorak, MS, RDN, and CDN, a Registered Dietician who holds many responsibilities with local non-profit Senior Resources, Agency on Aging and Lisa Bragaw, PharmD, who is a clinical pharmacist, yoga and wellness instructor and owner of Zen and Now Wellness Studio.   Discussion topics will include the physiological changes a woman undergoes with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, feminine dryness, decreased libido, as well as hormonal shifts and various treatments and studies.  In regards to nutrition, key highlights will include how to eat and maintain proper weight and health, navigating holiday temptations with a slowing metabolism and how food can improve mood.  The mindfulness portion will focus on how yoga and other integrative therapies can reduce stress, improve mood and help women deal with changing hormone levels holistically.

The event kicks off at 5:15pm and will end at 6:45pm.  We can’t wait for your to join us!
