No Cost Memory Screenings

Coastal Connecticut Research in New London is offering no cost, confidential memory screenings as a service to the community for memory loss or suspected early signs of Alzheimer’s.

If you are concerned about memory loss, have a family history of memory loss, or live with someone experiencing suspected memory loss call Coastal Connecticut Research at (860) 443-4567 to book a screening appointment.  Evaluations take around 30 minutes and results can be forwarded to health care providers with consent.

Since the inception of the Alzheimer’s national memory screening program over 2.5 million people have been screened worldwide.  Locally, Coastal Connecticut Research has conducted over 100 free memory screenings as part of this Alzheimer’s initiative. Memory screenings are a significant first step towards identifying memory problems.   The screenings are conducted by medical staff trained as Qualified Dementia Care Specialists, the highest level of certification awarded by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Free Memory Screenings at Total Life Expo

Coastal Connecticut Research (CCRstudies) will be providing free memory screenings at the Total Life Expo, presented by the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce at Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday, September 17th, 2016.  We’ll be on hand from 10 am to 3pm for those who wish to visit our booth.  The memory screenings are part of the Alzheimer Foundation of America’s National Memory Screening program.

Sarah Ballard, LPN, Qualified Dementia Care Specialist, will be conducting the screenings.  Results are confidential but can be forwarded to health care provided with the consent of the person who has undergone the memory screening.

Admission is free to the event.

CCRstudies Community Events

It’s going to be a busy spring season for CCRstudies.   We will be on the move in the coming weeks reaching out to members of the community.

On Tuesday, May 18th, CCRstudies has been invited to participate the Sound Community Services Annual Wellness Fair  from 3:00p.m. -7:00p.m.  This is a free event sponsored by Sound Community Services, 21 Montauk Avenue in New London,  for their staff and clients.  We will be providing information regarding our current clinical research trials. In addition, Qualified Dementia Care Specialist and CCRstudies Site Administrator Diane Palmer, RN, will be providing no cost memory screenings (by appointment) to those in attendance.  Booths and activities will also include stress management, financial management, fitness demonstrations, community resources, yoga & massage, a mocktail social hour, and more. We look forward to meeting people at this event!

On May 24th MaryLou Gannotti, who specializes in outreach for CCRstudies, will be conducting a presentation on Overactive Bladder (OAB) at Hamilton Park Apartments in Norwich. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the condition of Overactive Bladder.  We will share information on our currently enrolling OAB study in addition to other research trials underway.  This will be our second presentation at Hamilton Park and we are eager to return to greet residents and share information.

CCRstudies to Conduct Mobile Memory Clinic

CCRstudies in New London  will be conducting a Mobile Memory Clinic at the East Lyme Senior Center on Wednesday, March 30th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Diane Palmer, RN and Qualified Dementia Care Specialist, will administer memory testing to those who register in advance with the East Lyme Senior Center. CCRstudies is a member of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. The test serves a key role in the early detection of memory loss in individuals.

In addition to free memory testing, CCRstudies will also present information on current Alzheimer’s Research underway in New London testing an investigational add-on medication.

There is no cost to attend the event, but pre-registration is requested for the memory testing which will begin promptly at 9:30am. Memory Screenings can be set up through the East Lyme Senior Center. For further information on the event, contact MaryLou at CCRstudies at (860)443-4567.
